As a lot of you know, I spent 3 of my most memorable years in Japan. Fully aware of the earthquakes, I never was scared of the thought of a massive earthquake effecting me. I felt several over my time there, with the largest hitting 7.6M which still didn’t hit home.
Getting the news of this 8.9M earthquake taking over the east coast of Japan breaks my heart and plants the thought that anything can happen when you least expect it. Watching cars and houses being swept away by waves and gas pipe explosions taking out areas of homes scares the shit out of me.
Thank God for Facebook; a place where I can be updated from friends experiencing the quake. So happy to hear they’re ok, but still worried since their homes are still shaking.
Hopefully we’ve experienced the worst of it and can do our best to help those in need.
Annie and I shot a few months ago and had an absolute blast. We’ve known each other from the same group of friends which helped us get right into shooting at the studio. Since we’ve had to opportunity to shoot in Punta Cana which was an experience in itself. Below is one of my favs from our submission to American Curves.

This past week was the launch of the second installment of OverXXXposed at Paul Buceta studios. I really was hoping to showcase my work, but due to time restraints and my 26-hour filled days, I missed, yet another opportunity to to be able to display my work.
I had the chance to shoot Natasha Olenski from the Naked News. I rented out a music studio and got her to rock out on the guitar. We had a lot of fun with the concept and wanted to create an image that really popped…hopefully we suceeded!
You ever been sick for 2 weeks? I mean like really sick, not the tickle in your throat you wake up with every morning.
For those who don’t know, I had the flu and was out of commission from shooting for a couple to a few weeks. This lead to not being in the studio, not shooting for upcoming projects, neglecting my blog…the list goes on. It feels good to be back and I plan on launching a big surprise in the next few days. Hopefully I can get back on my feet to where I was before and continue my success
After An Amazing Shoot with Heather Robertson

Last night I had the pleasure to shoot Inside Fitness cover model Heather Robertson!
Everyone in the industry’s got one. It’s something that represents you, your talent, and what to expect for potential clients. It’s your resume that has to speak for itself by showing that you belong in the business. Here are a handful of key points that will help you either start or build your online portfolio.
Start On the Right Foot
Some models fill their portfolio with amateur shots when they begin to model. This won’t get the ball rolling. I’ve also seen models with cellphone pics in their well established portfolio, which in turn brings it down a notch. Look as professional as possible and make models/photographers know they’re dealing with someone with experience.
Variety
Make sure you have shots from several shoots. Even though you loooove that one shoot you did, post a MAX of 2 images with different outfits/locations (or both) to keep them unique. Too many images from the same shoot will saturate your port and give the impression that you don’t have enough content to fill the ‘empty’ space.
Get Different Opinions
Models focus on their bodies and photographers are always aware of the technical side…but everyone sees the image differently. It’s best to get a few thoughts and critiques from people who see you in a different light. Whenever a model selects her edits from the proofsheet, I always am blunt and let her know my honest opinion so she knows how others view the shots.
Avatars Stop Traffic
This one goes without saying…but I still have to drop the hint. Avatars have to be one of your best pictures that represent your work and make people want to click (which leads to your galleries/site/FB etc.) I can go through 20 pages of avatars without clicking, but once an image jumps out at me, its worth the time to research what they’re all about.
Create Your Own Style
Ask yourself, “What makes me stand out?”. Don’t have an answer, then get creative. If you have a unique style, then you will get noticed easier and remembered for longer. Business is constant for models/photographers that have their own style because it can’t be seen anywhere else.
Hopefully there were a couple things that will help you use your portfolio more effectively and bring in more business!
